von Heer’s
has been in existence for a number of years.
Our commanding
officer is Maj..
Ron Puza, who portrays Bartholomew von Heer.
The Major makes his permanent quarters near Williamsburg,
Virginia. |
 |
Dr.
David L. Valuska of Kutztown, Pennsylvania portrays Lt. Myttinger
and commands the mounted detachment of Light Dragoons for
von Heer’s. Dr. Valuska is a retired Professor of American
History at Kutztown University, as well as the President
of the Pennsylvania German Society |
 |
Sgt.
Erek Dorman is the Adjutant for von Heer’s.
A graphic designer by trade, Sgt. Dorman has been a living
historian
and reenactor for both the Civil War and the
War for Independence a number of years. |
| As a group, we portray
von Heer’s Light Dragoons by wearing authentically
reproduced unifroms, equipment and weaponry to stage battle
reenactments and living history encampments. A great number
of our fellow Americans are often unaware of the history
which took place in their own back yards, and our primary
effort is directed at educating the public. We also try to
honor and commemorate those steadfast and worthy persons
who sacrificed so much to the founding of our nation. |
 |
von Heer’s is frequently asked
to serve as an honor guard for dedication ceremonies, wreath
laying ceremonies and events at historic locations like Valley
Forge and other National Parks. Contact
us if you would like
to have von Heer’s participate in your event. Our soldiers often
volunteer in schools to educate students about the hardships
of a soldier's life during the Revolutionary War.
